Eat Well. Look Good. Feel Great!

It is sooooo hard to break life-long habits and tastes; no matter how much life you’ve lived. But IT IS POSSIBLE! And it’s not easy but once you start to notice the difference in how you feel (and you definitely will!!), you will be so happy that you took the first step. You can’t change everything overnight. It’s too overwhelming and you will quit. Soon. You have to take baby steps. Don’t try to give up all your bad eating habits at once. Pick one (giving up sugar is a great place to start!) and replace it with something good. The results? Improved energy, better sleeping, clearer skin, focused thinking, better moods, less pain….do any of those sound a little bit interesting?
Will you see the results after one day? Probably not. But you will after a couple of weeks. You can do that, right??!!?!? Find a friend or make it a family affair and do it together. It’s a lot easier when you have someone keeping you accountable. When you realize YOU CAN DO THIS, then get serious!
How do you start? Throw away all the junk in your pantry and frig. If it’s not there, you can’t eat it! If it is there, it will be much easier to give in when you are having a moment. Remember that a lot of eating habits are just that…habits. Maybe every afternoon at 4:00, you grab a candy bar. Or after dinner, you have to have ice cream. Just find something to replace it with that’s a healthy choice. It doesn’t mean you can never have it again. Just for now, til you can change your habits from everyday to a special treat!
So what kind of junk do you need to throw away? Well, you may not like this but here is how I would start.
  • Cereal
  • Processed foods
  • Margarine (fake butter)
  • Table salt
  • Canned and packaged meals
  • Sweets
  • Gluten
  • Yogurt (lots of sugar!)
  • Canola oil
  • Soy
  • Breads
  • Salad dressings

Whoaaa you have nothing left? Go to the store and get these:

  • Proteins
  • Nuts and Seeds
  • Quinoa
  • Veggies and fruits. lots of berries!
  • Almond or coconut milk
  • Hummus
  • Guacamole
  • Herbs and spices
  • Mother’s organic Apple cider vinegar- great for detox (you’ll need that!), helps balance blood sugar and blood pressure
  • Olive oil and coconut oil- healthy source of saturated fats, great for your brain
  • Coconut aminos (great replacement for soy)
  • Himalayan salt- purest form of salt, rich in vitamins and minerals and free from toxins  

You can make your own salad dressings and you’ll be surprised that you can actually taste the salad instead of just heavy dressing!

Stay away from things that have a long list of ingredients, most of which you could never pronounce.

Think about why you eat what you do! Is it social? Convenience? Comfort? For sustenance? Do you eat like a drip-feed, constantly snacking? Start counting chemicals and unhealthy things rather than counting calories.

Water…try to be mindful of the source. It has so much added to it that it can end up being more of a problem than a healthy drink. Even bottled water is deceptive-avoid plastic bottles.. Try adding fresh fruit or essential oils to your water for a refreshing taste! If you want more help or just some encouragement, let me know!

It’s a mind-shift and not always easy. We have been doing this for quite a while now and are living proof that it works and it CAN AND DOES change the way you feel and ultimately, your health!
